Discovering Your Leadership

Discovering your Leadership is designed for early stages of leadership development for aspiring and new leaders.

Programme overview and suitability:

This programme is for colleagues whose role requires the input and collaboration of others. You may have limited/some knowledge or experience in applying leadership skills or have infrequent opportunities to connect theory to practice. The programme will be particularly beneficial for colleagues who aspiring leaders or leaders who are new-to-role.

There will be a focus on understanding fundamental leadership competencies, enhancing self-awareness, and creating collaborative working relationships. There is a requirement to complete activities in between sessions as you will be working as a supportive learning cohort.

An outline of the programme is as follows:

  • Induction session – What does leadership mean to me?
  • Session 1 – Difficult conversations & conflict management
  • Session 2 – Building collaboration
  • Session 3 – Influencing and communication
  • Session 4 – Transformational change & next steps

Dates and Applications

This programme is now fully booked for the 2023/24 academic year. Register your interest for future sessions and we will get in touch with details once available.

The session dates for the 2023/24 academic year are:

Community 1: 13 September - 1 November 2023 (on campus)

These sessions will be delivered on campus, except for the introduction session which will be online.

  • Introduction -  13 September 2023, 10am-12noon
  • Session 1 - 20 September 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 2 - 4 October 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 3 - 18 October 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 4 - 1 November 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm

Community 2: 25 October - 12 December 2023 (online)

These sessions will all be delivered online, however, this is subject to change whilst we review this option.

  • Introduction -  25 October 2023, 10am-12noon
  • Session 1 - 2 November 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 2 - 15 November 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 3 - 28 November 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 4 - 12 December 2023, 9.30am-12.30pm

Community 3: 30 January - 20 March 2024 (on campus)

These sessions will be delivered on campus, except for the introduction session which will be online.

  • Introduction -  30 January 2024, 10am-12noon
  • Session 1 - 7 February 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 2 - 21 February 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 3 - 6 March 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 4 - 20 March 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm

Community 4: 17 April - 5 June 2024 (on campus)

These sessions will be delivered on campus, except for the introduction session which will be online.

  • Introduction -  17 April 2024, 10am-12noon
  • Session 1 - 24 April 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 2 - 8 May 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 3 - 22 May 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Session 4 - 5 June 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm
