Introduction to Coaching
About this session
This session provides an introduction to coaching for managers and asks, ‘What is coaching?’ and ‘How can I use coaching in my role?’. Providing some key coaching skills, the session will help managers become flexible in their style, so they can get the best from others.
This short and interactive online session will provide you with the confidence to facilitate conversations through honing our questioning and listening and creating the space and environment for colleagues to be the best they can be.
By taking part in this session, you will be able to:
- Define what coaching is and how it applies to the manager/leader role
- Identify questions that support and challenge others to enhance performance
- Use simple coaching tools when working with colleagues, to achieve results
Who is the session for?
This session is valuable to anyone who has management responsibilities or manages project-based teams.
As part of our management plus programme, it is designed for established line managers who have a strong understanding of the key responsibilities that a manager has at the University.
Whilst any manager who feels they would benefit from this training can register their interest, we’d recommend it would be suitable for those with over 12 months experience of being a manager. For new managers, our Management Essentials programme covers a variety of topics for those new to the role, or to Leeds.
