The Career Planning First Steps session for grades 2-5 gives participants the opportunity to look at where they are in their career, identify any future goals and start to create a career plan for themselves.

Effective CVs, Skills Profiles and Job Applications (Grade 2-5 Staff)

The aim of this event is to understand the purpose of a CV/Skills profile, how to prepare your CV, how to tailor your CV for a specific job application, and why employers use job application forms as part of their selection process. Participants to bring any examples of CVs, Skills profiles or Job applications they have used or are working on with them to the session.

Effective Interview Skills (Grade 2-5 Staff)

This session aims to equip participants with information, advice and guidance on preparing effectively for an interview and to share tips on how to be more relaxed in an interview. It would be useful to have attended the Effective CVs/Skills profile and Job applications session but this is not a requirement to attend this session. Participants should come prepared to share their experiences of past interviews and have any questions or queries ready to aid group discussions.

Mock Interview Practice (Grade 2-5 Staff)

This session aims to increase participants confidence in preparing for interviews and performing in an interview situation. It would be useful to have attended the Effective Interviews session before booking on this practice session but it is not mandatory. By the end of the session, participants will have a better understanding of how an interview situation affects them, how they respond to them and learn techniques to manage their reactions. Participants will have more confidence and coping techniques when being interviewed.

This is intended to be a practical session for the participants to choose and practice suggested interview techniques to improve their confidence in an interview situation.
